PTV organizes this event to which you are invited. Please beware that the location of the User Group meeting is different from previous years, although still at Imperial College – South Kensington. The User Group meeting pertains mainly to the VISSIM microscopic traffic simulator and the VISUM strategic modeling software although other tools for traffic management and planning are welcome at the meeting (please visit www.ptv-vision.com to know more about this software).
The current page will be kept up-to-date with information on the event as the preparation progresses. To help tracking the changes, the most important ones will be tagged with the date in the format UPDATE-YYMMDD (YY=year; MM=month; DD=day). At the bottom of this web page (accessible here) there is the list of those major updates. It is possible to navigate to hyperlinks from this page and then use the ‘back’ button of your browser to come back. Alternatively, please click on the hyperlinks while pressing the <shift> button to open new web pages.
Prior to the user group meeting parallel training classes
will be offered. The number of participants per course will be 5 (minimum) and
about 20 (maximum). Staff from PTV-Karlsruhe (
a) VISSIM ‘beginners’ training: Basic network modeling, priorities, link-based flows, fixed time signals, public transport, evaluations (delays, queues, travel times, etc.).
b) VISSIM ‘advanced’ training: Experts’ problems, emphasis on vehicle actuated signals (VAP/VISVAP), dynamic assignment, COM interface, modeling suggestions, V3DM (to generate 3D models for VISSIM). UPDATE-060522: This course is now full.
c) VISUM 9.4 ‘beginners’ training: Network editing; introduction to various assignment methods, post-assignment analysis, basics of demand modeling (4-stage assignment), interface with VISSIM. More on VISUM can be found by clicking here.
d) VISUM 9.4 ‘advanced’ training: junction modeling with delay calculation using Traffix; link to GIS, interface with VISSIM, demand modelling, updating OD matrices from traffic counts.
Participants will need to bring their own laptops (basic specifications can be found here), though no VISSIM/VISUM licence is required. To cover costs, the charge is £ 160 for the Training (£ 100 for students, including PHDs). Bookings will be made on a first-come-first-served basis. It must be pointed out that we regrettably had to turn down applications last year so please apply sooner rather than later if you wish to attend.
The 6th UK VISSIM/VISUM User Group
Meeting will be held at Imperial College London on

We calculate that to cover the costs of the User Group Meeting, which
include lunch, refreshments and documentation, a fee of £ 160 will be required
(£ 80 for students/PHDs and presenters, first
author). The maximum number of participants is set to 100.
Presentations are invited from a variety of working backgrounds, be
they consultancies, public sector or University. If you have applied VISSIM
or VISUM (or tools linked to those) to any problem that could be
of interest to other participants, please get in touch. We will need to have a
title accompanied by an abstract of 200-300 words by May 12th 2006.
Presenters should then submit their papers and/or handout slides by June 9th.
The compliance with these deadlines will enable us to prepare the documentation
to be circulated at the User Group Meeting well in advance (papers and/or
handout slides not received on time might not be part of the proceedings and/or
excluded from the programme). Presentations will last 15-25 minutes, with some
time for questions at the end.
