Requirements

Operating system

VISSIM/VISUM run under Windows 98 SE, Windows ME and Windows NT 4.0/ 2000/ XP.

CPU

A Pentium III or equivalent machine is recommended.

RAM

Minimum working memory is 64 MB, for optimal performance use 128 MB; for large networks 128 MB or more is recommended.

Monitor

A monitor with a resolution of at least 1024 x 768 is recommended (17” or higher).

Data transfer/installation

Having CD/DVD driver and floppy driver will help. Alternatively an USB port can be used, in which case we recommend to notify the organizers. Please make sure that you have administrator rights to install software on your machine. The software can be seamlessly uninstalled after the User Group Meeting.

Optionals

Graphics card

For VISUM any graphics card is suitable. At least 32 MB of graphics card is highly recommended for 3D animation in VISSIM, 64 MB even better. With a 16MB graphics card, 3D animation might be very slow or lack colors. We found NVidia graphics cards very reliable. With very old graphics cards, you might not be able to see the simulation in 3D, although it is expected to work well in 2D.

Mouse

The use of a mouse is recommended although not mandatory.
